The Government of Assam through the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department has released new guidelines for the Simon Sing Horo Special Post-Matric Scholarship, replacing old notifications.
This special incentive helps students from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community continue their studies after clearing their board exams.
🎯 What’s the Purpose?
✅ Main Aim:
To encourage students who pass the HSLC (under SEBA or equivalent) and HSSLC (under AHSEC or equivalent) exams in the current year to keep studying — by giving them a one-time incentive of Rs. 10,000/-.
📌 Who Runs It?
The scheme will be managed by the Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, Assam.
🗂️ How Does It Work?
1️⃣ Application Invites:
An official ad will be published on the Directorate’s website and in local newspapers.
2️⃣ Apply Online:
Eligible students must fill out the form online and upload all supporting documents.
3️⃣ Get Acknowledgement:
Once submitted, you’ll get an acknowledgment receipt. Keep it safe!
You’ll have to show this slip with original documents to the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer (SDWO) when asked for verification.
4️⃣ Verification:
The SDWO will check all applications and prepare an approved list.
This list is sent online to the Directorate.
5️⃣ Final Approval:
The Director will combine all lists and place the final one before the Chairman, State Level Advisory Committee (SLAC) for approval.
❗ If any applications look doubtful, they can be sent back to the SDWO for re-checking.
6️⃣ Money Transfer:
Once approved, students will get their one-time Rs. 10,000/- directly in their bank accounts via e-transfer.
✅ Who Can Apply?
✔️ You must have passed HSLC from SEBA (or equivalent board) and HSSLC from AHSEC (or equivalent board) in the same current year.
✔️ You must show an admission receipt to prove you’re continuing your education at the next level.
✔️ You must be a permanent resident of Assam.
✔️ You must belong to the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community.
✔️ You need a valid Caste Certificate issued by your district’s Deputy Commissioner or their authorized officer.
✔️ Good News:
All eligible children from the same family who pass in the same year can get this benefit.
✔️ Bonus:
You can apply for this incentive AND still get the normal Post-Matric Scholarship, Financial Assistance for Higher Studies, or Financial Assistance for ANM/GNM/Technical Courses if you’re eligible.
💰 How Much Will You Get?
✔️ One-time incentive: Rs. 10,000/- per student
🔍 Monitoring & Audit
📌 The Directorate will:

Monitor how the scheme runs.

Submit an annual report and utilization certificates to the Government.

Ensure the AG (Audit), Assam audits the process regularly.
🗓️ The scheme should be fully implemented by March 31st of each financial year.
