Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant must be a citizen of India
• Must be admitted to M.Sc. or Ph.D. programs at NDRI
• Should not be receiving any other fellowship or financial assistance
• Must maintain a GPA of 6.5/10 or 65% aggregate per semester (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST only once)
• Must register for all prescribed courses every semester
Zero tolerance for misconduct or poor attendance/performance


Duration & Renewal Guidelines

M.Sc. Program

• Duration: 2 years
• Students requiring prerequisite courses may be granted up to 3 years

Ph.D. Program

• Duration: 3 years
• Extension of up to 6 months based on progress review & seminar presentation

Scholarship terminates on the date of thesis submission, viva completion, or the end of the sanctioned period—whichever is earlier.


Conduct Rules

Conduct probation halts scholarship disbursal
• Termination for negligence, misconduct, or withdrawal
• Must attend and perform well in all internal and semester exams
• Scholarship is disbursed in two academic periods:

  • 1st Period: From the date of joining to 31st January
  • 2nd Period: 1st February to 31st July

  • What are the benefits of the scholarship 
    All eligible Master’s students on the rolls of NDRI will receive Rs. 7560/- per month. All eligible Doctoral students on the rolls of NDRI will receive Rs. 10,500/- per month during the period of Ph.D. tenure. In-service Ph.D. students will receive Institute Scholarship @ Rs. 1000/- per month, provided they are employed in the ICAR/SAU system and opt to join at a place other than the one where working, and provided further that the 3rd degree is not from the same Institute.

    A) “Institute Scholarship” is offered to all students of Indian Nationality admitted to Master’s and Doctoral programmes at NDRI to provide them financial assistance as per rules and conditions in this document.
    b) Scholarships are offered to only those who do not hold any other financial Assistance/ Scholarship. As and when a student receives or accepts financial assistance from any other source, the “Institute Scholarship” will be terminated.
    c) The award of a scholarship will be made on receipt of the following certificates:
    Acceptance of the award in the prescribed proforma.
    An undertaking to follow the rules and regulations as per conditions governing the Scholarship in the prescribed proforma.
