The Merit Cum Means Based Scholarship Scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of Minority Affairs to promote professional and technical education among students from minority communities. By providing financial assistance, the government aims to reduce the dropout rate and empower students to achieve higher education and greater career opportunities.
For the academic year 2025-26, this scholarship targets students pursuing professional or technical undergraduate and postgraduate courses across India.

Eligibility Criteria
• Applicant must be a citizen of India.
• Applicant must belong to a Minority Community (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or Parsi).
• Must have secured at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
• Must be pursuing technical or professional courses at undergraduate/postgraduate level.
• Annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
• Only two children from the same family are eligible.
• Students availing other Central Government scholarships are not eligible under this scheme.
Exclusions
• Students violating school/institution discipline or misusing scholarship funds will have their scholarship canceled.
• Students receiving financial assistance from any other government scholarship for the same course cannot apply.
• Students found submitting false information will face scholarship cancellation and recovery of funds.
Application Process

Fresh Application

Track Payment Status
Students can track their payment status at the PFMS Portal under the “Know Your Payment” option using their Aadhaar Number, Bank Account Number, or NSP Application ID.

- What if there are more than one student with equal marks for the last available slot?
In such cases, preference will be given to the student with lower family income. - Will I be eligible for the scholarship if I fail to get promoted to the next semester?
No. The scholarship will be terminated in that case. - Is there a percentage of slots reserved for girl students?
Yes, 30% of the total slots are reserved for girl students. - Can I apply offline for the scholarship?
