Jagananna Amma Vodi Scheme

Launched on 9th January 2020 by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Jagananna Amma Vodi Scheme is one of the flagship education welfare programs of Andhra Pradesh. Managed by the School Education Department, the scheme provides ₹15,000 per annum to poor mothers (or guardians in the absence of the mother) to send their children to school from Class 1 to 12. The initiative aims to improve attendance, reduce dropouts, and strengthen the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) across the state.

Eligibility Criteria

• The mother/guardian must be a resident of Andhra Pradesh
• Child must be studying in Class 1 to Class 12
• Student must be enrolled in a recognized Govt./Aided/Unaided school or Jr. College in AP
Family income limit:

  • Rural: Less than ₹10,000/month

  • Urban: Less than ₹12,000/month
    Electricity consumption must be less than 300 units/month (average of 6 months)
    • Family must not own a 4-wheeler (except Taxi/Auto/Tractor)
    • No government employee or pensioner in the family (except sanitary workers)
    Landholding limit: Urban household must have <1000 sq. ft. plot
    • Child must have minimum 75% attendance


Exclusions

• Students of Class 10 who opt for IIT/Polytechnic/IIIT courses (as they fall under Vidya Deevena or Vasathi Deevena)
Non-residents of Andhra Pradesh
• Families with income tax payees
• Students from unrecognized institutions


Application Process (Offline)

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. School Headmaster/Principal collects student data and submits it as per the standard format

  2. Data is verified using 6-Step Check, Childinfo/UDISE, and Civil Supplies data

  3. Social Audit is conducted at the Village/Ward Secretariat for transparency

  4. Ineligible candidates are informed with reasons for rejection

  5. Final Eligible List is prepared by Welfare Education Assistant and approved by District Collector

  6. e-KYC verification of mother through biometric is done

  7. Funds are released by District Education Officers to the beneficiary account

  8. Acknowledgment and biometric receipt is collected from the mother by field staff
