The Norka Roots Director’s Scholarship is mainly instituted as financial aid for higher education for the children of economically backward expatriates and returnees. Currently, the scheme is applicable to the children of ECR category expatriates and those who have returned from abroad and are currently seeking work abroad. Applicants must have worked abroad for at least two years in either of these categories. The annual income of the returnees should not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a child of an NRK belonging to the ECR category (housemaids, unskilled workers, house drivers)

• NRK must have worked abroad for at least 2 years

• For returnee NRKs, annual family income should not exceed ₹1.5 lakh

• For PG courses:

  • 75% marks in graduation (Science stream)

  • 60% marks in graduation (Arts stream)

• For Professional UG courses:

  • 75% marks in Class 12
